Programmes of the CFAC and the Family Chain Organizations
In each region, our member organizations regularly organize colourful programmes for their member families and all the people interested. The various programs comprise, among others, family days, national feasts, commemoration days, festivals and cultural events, conferences, in-service trainings. Regular tours and excursions are organised in order to present the beautiful landscape of the Carpathian Basin. Several member associations are engaged in culture and heritage conservation, organizing summer camps and local history workshops.
Our regular programmes in the Hungarian Parliament, as well as performances in the National Theatre, the State Opera House, the Grand Circus of Budapest, visits to the National Museum, the Museum of Military History, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Transport Museum are all important means of affirming national identity.
On 15 February 2014, the Confederation of Family Associations in the Carpathian Basin organized the “Carpathian Family Gathering” in the Parliament building, Budapest within the framework of the events of the Marriage Week International. This event was organized together with the Media Service Support and the Asset Management Fund. Large families from all over the Carpathian Basin, especially families with more children were among the participants.
In the welcome speech of the event, Dr. Lászlo Kövér, President of the Parliament said the following: “Children mean future. If more children are born, there is future for Hungary. Without children, there is no future.” While little children were being entertained by different arts and crafts, the building of Parliament was presented to the teenagers and their parents. In the evening, the participants of the gathering were able to choose between a visit to the State Opera House and a performance at the Grand Circus.
Dozens of high-quality programs are organized for thousands of Hungarian families by the Confederation of Family Associations in the Carpathian Basin and Family Chain member associations. Since 2010, the CFAC has implemented a growing number of events both in the motherland and beyond our borders. Within the home country, more and more large family associations are getting involved in the activities of the confederation. Several great events have become a tradition by now. These comprise for instance the Family Day in the Parliament, the Children’s Festival in Kolozsvár (Cluj-Napoca) in Advent, the Baby Carrier Days of Csíkszereda (Miercurea Ciuc), the events relating to the World Marriage Day and the Marriage Week International, the Day of Large Families of the Subcarpathian Region, the gathering of the gingerbread-makers in Nagyvárad (Oradea) in Advent, and the traditionalist camp in Orosháza. Equally important are the performances in the Opera House and the National Theatre. Regular invitations to the performances of the Grand Circus are a special gift for families with small children. The “Tale of life” competition organized by the “Smile- flower” Family Association of Debrecen is a unique project, welcoming applications from the motherland and from beyond the borders alike. The first Family Congress in Vojvodina in 2013 was also a significant event.
